HK Prize – 2023/2024

HONG KONG – Hong Kong’s domestic racing prize money will rise by eight percent next season, with increases across all classes. Including bonuses, the total prize pool will top HK$1.38 billion. It will include increased prize money for Class 2 and Class 3 races, as well as the four-year-old Classic Series. The prize money increase is one of the most significant in the Club’s history and will be reflected in the 2019/20 racing programme.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people made generous donations to charity in order to help those who had been affected. As a result, many local charities were able to continue their good work, even during the most challenging of times.

In honour of those who helped their fellow citizens in need, the Spirit of Hong Kong Awards have been established to recognise their contributions and inspire more people to follow their footsteps. The awardees might not be celebrities or big-name figures, but they are the true heroes who make a difference in society. They might be selfless caregivers, volunteers or people who are willing to go the extra mile in their jobs, and they embody the true Hong Kong spirit.

Hong Kong’s top-grossing Chinese-language movie and a kung fu smash hit were among the winners at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards on Sunday evening. Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In won best film, while Sean Lau Ching-wan and Michelle Wai Sze-nga took home the top actor and actress prizes respectively.

A team from the University of Hong Kong clinched a gold medal in fencing at the 2023 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. The men’s épée team, consisting of Lee Cheuk-yan and Jonathan Wong, became the first Hong Kong team to win a gold medal in the sport since its debut at the games in 1998.

HK Prize – 2023/2024

The inaugural ICAS Book Prize on Global Hong Kong Studies has been launched to mark the launch of the new ICAS Publishing House in 2023/24. It is a new initiative to celebrate the rich heritage and legacy of Hong Kong, while at the same time fostering scholarly exchange between Hong Kong and the world.

The Shaw Prize, the premier international award in science, will showcase this year’s winning scientists at Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Space Station from 29 March to 10 April. The exhibition will allow you to understand the incredible scientific journey of these elite researchers and the breakthroughs they have made in their fields.
