Hong Kong Prizes and Awards

The five winners of the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize 2024 pocketed a total of HK$2 million each for their contributions to research in artificial intelligence and robotics, life and health, new materials and new energy, advanced manufacturing and fintech. Organiser Lo Yuk-ming said the young researchers are crucial to Hong Kong’s future tech-innovation, and the awards will encourage more of them to contribute their research skills and technology development to the city.

Hong Kong’s tourism industry has garnered a number of accolades and recognition, including a record-breaking HK$20.8 million in prizes to be given out on Chinese New Year raceday. The Triple Trio, Quartet and First 4 merged jackpot pools will all be topped up to offer a total of HK$20.8 million in prize money this year.

In addition, HKTB won the “Excellence in Marketing Collaboration Award” in the PATA Gold Awards 2023 and the “Team Award – Contact Centre Service” in the Hong Kong Association for Customer Service Excellence Awards 2022. HKTB’s visitor centres also received top marks in the “Customer Satisfaction Rating” category of the HSBC Asia-Pacific Customer Service Excellence Awards 2023.

The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) has won the Best Classical Recording of the Year for its release of a four-CD box set recording of Wagner’s Ring Cycle at this year’s Gramophone Music Awards. The HK Phil is the first and only Asian classical music organisation to have won this prestigious award. The HK Phil extends its heartfelt thanks to the Government and the Hong Kong SAR’s Principal Patron, the Swire Group, as well as music lovers around the world who have supported the award-winning project.

HK Global Development Prize: The HK Global Development Prize is a HK$5,000 competition organised by Generocity to gather innovative ideas on establishing an Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme in Hong Kong. The judging panel of the HK Global Development Prize is comprised of representatives from HK International Trade and Economic Co-operation Commission (HKIECC), Hong Kong Productivity Council, United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, NGOs and academia.

Applicants can submit their ideas via the online form until December 16. The winners of the Grand Award and Awards will be announced in early 2021. The winning projects will be featured in a HKIECC media release and website. They will also be given the opportunity to participate in a networking event hosted by HKIECC, and receive grants of up to HK$20,000 each for implementation of their ideas. In addition, a winner of the Grand Award will be offered an overseas trip and a stipend to support his or her professional development. All the other finalists will receive certificates of merit.
