Hong Kong Pools – The Best Places to Cool Off in the Heat

The summer heat and humidity in Hong Kong can leave you feeling sticky all over. Fortunately, there’s no better way to beat the heat than swimming. Whether you’re looking for a place to cool down with the family or some fun in the sun, these hk pools will help you escape from the sticky city.

Public swimming pools in Hong Kong are managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). There are 44 of these, including 9 on Hong Kong Island, 13 in Kowloon, and 22 in the New Territories. In addition to regular pool hours, most also offer classes for kids. YMCA Bridges Street Centre is an excellent choice for those looking for a centrally located pool in Hong Kong. Built in 1918, this historic complex houses the first indoor pool in the city and is still fairly affordable in comparison to other pools. Plus, it even offers sports classes for the kids!

Another great option is the Kwai Shing Swimming Pool, which has an outdoor pool with a standard design and a grandstand that can seat 1,200 spectators. The pool is spacious and looks out to the Tolo Harbour, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing swim with gorgeous views of Hong Kong’s skyline.

If you’re in the mood for a bit of exercise, there are also two small training pools and one teaching pool at this location. The best part? The entrance is free for non-residents!

For those who are more interested in a fun waterpark, the Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool is an excellent option. Designed with kids in mind, this pool has an incredible pirate ship, as well as several waterslides and fountains that kids will love. Plus, it’s only a short walk from the Ocean Park waterpark!

For a more luxurious experience, you can always head to the W Hong Kong, which has an outdoor pool on the 76th floor. Known as Wet, this pool is 211 metres above sea level and gives you the opportunity to work up a sweat with stunning city and harbour views. Non-residents can purchase a weekday or everyday deluxe pass for access to the pool and Fit Gym. Just be sure to pack your sunscreen!
